Early Childhood Center Assistant Coordinator

Under the direction of the Center Operations Coordinator, this position will assist in leading the operation of the center, ensuring compliance with all program policies/procedures and Head Start, licensing or other regulations.
Will assume the lead role in the center in the absence of the Center Operations Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, all other duties as assigned.
Assist in the hiring, coaching, and evaluating the performance of the center staff.
Supervise the assigned center education team.
Assist with managing issues and concerns from parents/guardians, conduct parent/guardian conferences when needed.
Promote a consistent exchange of information across the program.
Encourage and support professional development opportunities.
Keep the Center Operations Coordinator informed of any necessary information regarding the care and safety of children.
Assist and accept responsibility in daily duties that might be temporary in the event other personnel are not available.
Assist in the planning and facilitation of regular center meetings.
Ensure adequate systems and coverage are in place to maintain the highest quality of services to children and families in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
Ensure consistency in service delivery across the program with attention to inclusive practices and integration of component areas; encourage continuous improvement of systems.
Conduct classroom observations and develop professional development plans to support teaching practices of classroom staff.
Attend interagency organizational and planning meetings as appropriate.
Participate in professional development activities and organized community events.
Obtain the Office of Child Care Licensing Administrator certificate within 4 months.
Attend and participate in staff meetings, program events, and parent/community meetings as requested.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or BA/BS with at least 18 credits in Early Childhood Education plus 3 years experience teaching birth to preschool aged children, required.
Experience in leadership, planning and evaluating in an education setting, preferred.
Knowledge of relevant Head Start regulations and quality standards, preferred.
Previous work experience in a Head Start program preferred.
Experience in design and delivery of training.
Experience in administration, including knowledge of State licensing requirements, health and safety requirements and Head Start Performance Standards.

Strong knowledge of best practices and systems in the field of early childhood.
Must obtain and maintain the Pre-K and/or Infant Toddler CLASS Observer certification.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff Demonstrated computer literacy skills, using MS Office applications and other basic data systems including internet navigation.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
Ability to respond appropriately to the cultural differences present among the agency's service population.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings.
Ability to interpret and implement program policies and regulations.
Must maintain CPR and First Aid Certification and Medication Certification.
Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license, which meets the requirements of the agency's insurance carrier.
